During Spring Break 2013, the Catholic Student Ministry traveled to six different communities to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ in various capacities to explore what Pope John Paul II called us to as he described the “universal call to mission” (Redemptoris Missio 90).
All six trips had a focus on pre-trip formation and post-trip followup, so students not only sacrificed their spring breaks for these trips, but also some weekly time leading up to and following the trips. During the trips, students had regular prayer together and daily Mass when possible, as well as evening discussion and processing time — an opportunity to bring the experiences of the day before God and each other.
Two types of trips were offered: Habitat for Humanity (Augusta, GA; Athens, OH; Goldsboro, NC; York, PA) and Social Justice (Washington, DC; Richmond, VA).
